What Season are you in?
In the Bible verse: Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” When I feel that there has been a shift in my life, I Ask God what season am I in? This is not just our normal 4 seasons, there are lots of types of seasons. This is a great question to ask God as it can help you identify where you are and what you can do at this time to understand what’s happening to you. It is so easy to rush into things that may be right, but the time and the season is out of timing.
Also, don’t look at what is happening to others as they are in different seasons too. Your season is so important! At present at my church we had a HUGE lead up to Awakening Australia at Brisbane last week where a 1000 people came to know the love of God and became followers of Jesus. The Big event is now over and I am in a different season, but what season? God said to me ‘The Fallow Season’. Now, is the time to ask God ‘What season you are in?’ before setting your hands to the plough again, ask God this valuable question. Remember that there is always a preparation time before another new season begins. This preparation time is so necessary to be rested and ready for all that God has in store. In Exodus 23:10-11a. ‘For 6 years you shall sow your land and gather its yield, but the 7th you shall let it rest and lie fallow.” I’m not saying that this fallow season is 1 year in length but it will be as long as God says so. So, I ask Him at times during the season, “Am I still in the fallow season and what are you wanting me to do?” The fallow season is when the fields have been harvested and the ground has been tilled and built up into lines and ditches and left to rest for a while, before planting. At first glance this could be seen as a bad thing, yet when I asked, ‘What is a fallow season?’ The response was ‘A time of rest, the hard work has been done and now it is the time to wait for the next season. Waiting is a doing season as well! So what do we do? Rest time and wait time is so important. What happens to the soil during the resting time? Rest allows the rain to fall, the soil to grow in nutrients and improve moisture holding capacity so the new crops will produce a higher crop next year. It also disrupts the pest cycles as the pests have no plants to feed off, and it also increases nitrogen. It waits for the right planting season to come for optimum harvest. Again, ask God questions to help you be at peace during different changes and seasons. Don’t just charge into the next season. I did a search about the fallow season to help me understand it better and in the passage below from Annvoskamp.com said it beautifully and it resonated with me and helped me rest well. “God knows what is best for us; a season to rest, to be replenished and re-nourished. I was so used to having my hand to the plough and my knees dirty from work that I didn’t know how to do nothing. I needed to have room in my life to hold space and emptiness and be still in the quiet of not being rushed.“ https://annvoskamp.com/2018/08/when-life-is-still-in-the-midst-of-a-fallow-season/ This season would have been really hard to deal with, if I didn’t know that everything was on track and just a rest time. I then looked for fun and creative ways to rest really well and be ready for the next season. So I asked God what rest looked like for me. He said for me to be thankful for all that He did. To keep painting my series of artworks and paint at Church, rest, have fun with friends and family and catch up on all the things around the house. The next season we are in can now produce a bumper crop, as we have allowed the soil to time to grow full of nutrients and there will be no pests left in the soil. So Good!!! Be Joy-filled in this fallow season. I know I am, and don’t be in a hurry for the next season to start. Enjoy this one fully!!
